The gift of an extra hour

Today I asked my husband to drive our son to work.  It afforded a whole extra hour in the morning to putz around, drink coffee from home instead of on the road, and write in my journal while looking out on our street. Our neighbor, who is retired, was trimming her bushes on this very lovely fall morning.

Our dog Holly lay beside me as I sipped and wrote.

I had time to make a healthy salad with lots of red, green, and orange crunch. Homemade vinaigrette in a small mason jar, a cloth napkin and an apple to boot.

I stripped our sheets to wash and fed the chickens.

Time, glorious time. I love it so.
